A modern dining room with two pink patterned chairs, a black marble table with three blue vases, a colorful abstract painting on the wall, a stylish black and white light fixture hanging from the ceiling, and a geometric black, white, pink, and yellow rug on the floor.

Artwork with the text "The Roadhouse Below" and an illustration of a chair, a balloon, and handwritten style text, with "Palm Springs, CA" at the bottom.

When our clients found BiXBY, they had a house whose construction was delayed and a design vision that needed more focus and personality. If you were to meet our clients, you’ll know instantaneously that personality is something they are in no short supply of. We immediately set about streamlining construction and execution while applying a look and feel to the Roadrunner House that was as vibrant, interesting, and energetic as our clients are.

The Space

A bathroom with burnt orange walls, a terrazzo sink, a large mirror, a walk-in shower with a mounted showerhead, towel racks with white towels, and colorful artwork of a flamingo and abstract art on the wall.
Close-up of green decorative pillows with black, white, and yellow accents on a bed, against a patterned green and white wall.

As fervent supporters of the arts, color and confidence are pillars of our clients personalities. We weren’t putting together just a color palette; we were curating moods and emotions. Deep purples, browns, and earth reds in the primary bedroom pay homage to San Jacinto Mountains that buttress the back of the property. Orange Tadelakt plaster in the bathroom is contrasted by a cream and orange terrazzo vanity. An emerald green Oushak rug that was purchased while in India upholsters the bed in one of the guest suites while antique brass monkey nightstands sit whimsically against the Feather Bloom wallpaper.

The feeling

A minimalist interior with a wooden bench with thin metal legs and a pink checkered blanket rolled on one end, set against a light-colored wall decorated with three abstract, softly blurred framed artwork.
Close-up of curved, vertical architectural concrete beams or supports with a textured, light gray surface.
Pink pencil cup filled with red pencils on green marble surface next to decorative green rocks and a row of books about food, cooking, and home recipes.

We had wonderfully unique clients whose willingness to understand the “why” behind vision and choice led to a home that perfectly showcases their spirit and character. The result was a home rich in detail, color, and textures. Icelandic white marble with citrus-green veining sits in contrast with Fumed Red Gum cabinetry in the primary suite. A small pony hair stool rests on casters so the clients can sit together on Zoom calls in the office. A custom vanity chair in the primary suite features an integrated swivel mirror, allowing full visibility of the back of the hair while styling for a night out. Every detail and feature was thoughtful because every detail and feature of Roadrunner House was made especially for the clients.
